The Golf Industry Is Going Through The 5 Stages Of Grief Over The Loss Of The “Good Ol’ Days”
The five stages of grief are a series of emotional stages experienced when faced with impending death.
|The five stages are:||Golf Industry|
Denial – It will never happen to golf.
Anger – What the ____ is wrong with these golfers?
Bargaining – discounted green fees, memberships etc.
Depression – what’s the use, I’m finished anyway.
Acceptance – this is the way it is, so I better adjust to the times and re-work (it’s too late to re-think) my business model.
It is important to point out if you wait until everyone in the industry has accepted the new paradigm of the golf business you are too late. You missed the opportunity to get out-ahead of your competitors and lock-up the market. By entering the game late, you will just be struggling again to get your little piece of the pie.
You better stop whining and get ahead of your competitors, cause like it or not, the industry has changed and you better “accept” this fact now because the course in your area who fails to see the future will inevitably die with the past.
True success is not starting a trend, but knowing how to identify one and get out-ahead of it! You still have time to get out-ahead of your competitors if you start NOW!
The last great year of golf was 2002. Millennials are a new breed of consumers. Customer loyalty is a prehistoric concept to them. Data proves Millennials “on average” are non-committal e.g., far less are married in their twenties than generations of the past, far less belong to a political party, far less are members of churches.
